It’s been quite some time for an #NHLTweetup in DC! Join us at Clyde’s of Gallery Place to watch the Washington Capitals visit the Florida Panthers!

This is the first official Clyde’s hosted NHLtweetup! Clyde’s will be hosting all fans for a great night of watching hockey on multiple TVs in the Alley Bar with great food and drinks at special prices!

The best “save the date” reminders? Magnets. They’re always going to be at eyelevel on the fridge and will pin up pizza delivery coupons months after their expiration date.

Absent a magnet, this post will have to do. Reminder: The Puck Daddy/Japers’ Rink Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Viewing Party is Thursday, Jan. 21 beginning at 6 p.m. Location is the big room at Bailey’s Pub & Grille at the Ballston Mall (where we held our NHL Awards viewing party), located at 4233 Wilson Blvd. in Arlington (703-465-1300). There’s plenty of garage parking, and it’s within walking distance of the Ballston-MU (Orange Line) Metro.

What’s that you say? You’d like some prizes on top of the night of hockey action? OK then: We’ll be raffling off an autographed Caps hat and an autographed Caps puck, both signed by Alex Ovechkin(notes) and courtesy of Yahoo! Fantasy Sports. With the growing popularity of hockey in D.C., there’s a very good chance these items can actually be used as legal tender locally.

Once more, with feeling: This is not strictly a Capitals event. We want Penguins fans, en masse, representing the Stanley Cup champions. We want a rollicking room. Or, at the very least, we want someone else to get lucky. Come one, come all, tell a friend or seven, and we’ll see you there.

Caps fans! @vulcansmuse has handed over her organizing mantle, and while  it’s still a little big, we’re slowly shrinking it to fit.  Join the rest of the Caps Tweetup gang at the Penn Quarter Sports Bar for the 7:00 Caps v. Devils game on November 14th.  They claim to be good at hosting groups of rowdy sports fans, so let’s put them to the test.

And, as requested, it’s metro accessible. Only a few blocks from Verizon and mere steps away from Navy Memorial/Archives.

It’s time for another NHLTweetup! Only this time, we are playing for Lord Stanley’s Cup!

We will once again be returning to the T.G.I.Friday’s in Robinson. This time for Game 1 on Saturday.

So here are the details:

Time: Puck drops at 8
Location: TGI Friday’s in Robinson (where we happen to be 2-0)
Who: All Hockey Fans.  Twitterers preferred but certainly not required so bring a friend.

Once, twice, three times a Tweetup! With DC’s home team rounding up into the second, and heading onto the road to Pittsburgh, the DC tweeps are tweeting up for Round 2, making a third official NHL Tweetup during the playoffs! We’re heading to our homestead for the year, so far, Old Dominion Brewhouse, who has kindly hosted us twice before, where we will be gathered together amidst tons of TV screens focused on the Caps/Pens game on Wednesday, May 6.

For DC, though, the NHL Tweetups have been more than just an occasional occurrence. During home games, tweeps who attend the game meet up at the same section (108 next to the BBQ Pit Stand) during each intermission to mingle and chat and talk about the game or what has happened during the day or the week. Of course, lately it seems all we can seem to talk about are the amazing acrobatics of Semyon Varlamov! What started as an event created by the NHL to gather those on Twitter in the name of hockey has developed into friendships outside of Twitter.

As long as there is hockey, I’m sure there will be tweeps in DC gathering for tweetups! We’ll be meeting for our third on Wednesday, and most likely our fourth on Friday to cheer on the Capitals as they take on the Penguins on the road. But, more than anything, while we do enjoy gathering for the hockey, we do it for the friendship… well, and the amazing beer towers.

D.C. had a tremendous turn-out for its second NHL Tweetup. It was planned pending Game 6, which wasn’t decided until Friday night. So, while the twtvite went out, people were hesitant to RSVP out of superstition before the Caps won Game 5 (say it isn’t so, right?). But, as soon as the Caps pulled off a sweet victory in the Phone Booth on Friday night, the RSVPs rolled in, and on Sunday, tweeps gathered in and even brought friends to our hosting brewpub, Old Dominion Brewhouse. A few guests who came in to watch the game at ODB saw our excitement, and ended up joining our section as well! A total of 29 tweeps gathered in to watch the Caps knock off the Rangers in Game 6 to force Game 7 back to Caps’ home ice in the nation’s capital!

We will, of course, continue to mini-tweetup at Game 7, as we have during the playoff home games. We have enjoyed meeting, re-meeting and getting to see each other during the week and see faces outside of Twitter.

Thanks to Old Dominion for being our gracious hosts for a second time around, and for providing great prizes for giveaways, including drinks, hats, shirts, and even Capitals logo glasses, since we didn’t have any luring Caps gear to give away like we did last time! It was a great day for the Tweetup in D.C., and a fantastic afternoon for hockey!

Caps fans were out in force last night for the first-ever Washington, D.C. NHL Tweetup & Stanley Cup Playoff Viewing Party!  A total of 28 Tweeps gathered at Old Dominion Brewery to watch the Caps dominate the New York Rangers.  A few select photos from the evening!
