The best “save the date” reminders? Magnets. They’re always going to be at eyelevel on the fridge and will pin up pizza delivery coupons months after their expiration date.

Absent a magnet, this post will have to do. Reminder: The Puck Daddy/Japers’ Rink Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Viewing Party is Thursday, Jan. 21 beginning at 6 p.m. Location is the big room at Bailey’s Pub & Grille at the Ballston Mall (where we held our NHL Awards viewing party), located at 4233 Wilson Blvd. in Arlington (703-465-1300). There’s plenty of garage parking, and it’s within walking distance of the Ballston-MU (Orange Line) Metro.

What’s that you say? You’d like some prizes on top of the night of hockey action? OK then: We’ll be raffling off an autographed Caps hat and an autographed Caps puck, both signed by Alex Ovechkin(notes) and courtesy of Yahoo! Fantasy Sports. With the growing popularity of hockey in D.C., there’s a very good chance these items can actually be used as legal tender locally.

Once more, with feeling: This is not strictly a Capitals event. We want Penguins fans, en masse, representing the Stanley Cup champions. We want a rollicking room. Or, at the very least, we want someone else to get lucky. Come one, come all, tell a friend or seven, and we’ll see you there.
