Make sure you come to Nationwide Arena where I have got the only way you can get reserved seating at the Official Blue Jackets Draft Party. I have coordinated with the Blue Jackets organization and they have been gracious enough to give the NHLTweetup crew reserved seating. This promises to be a big and very fun event. The reason for the move to Nationwide Arena was, as some of you might know, because they had to turn people away last year due to the crowd.

The only way to insure that you will get a seat at the Columbus NHLTweetup for the Draft is to RSVP for the event below. The Blue Jackets could only promise me a limited amount of seats. So RSVP today but if you do, we are counting on you to come!

Just thought I’d touch base with the “blogosphere” before the Tweetup in Cincinnati tomorrow night. I haven’t received many RSVPs, but I swear by the end of the night there will be more than 2 people. I’m really looking forward to the event, and because we’re in a non-traditional market, I’m sure we’ll be able to show Cincinnatians what hockey is truly all about! I have lots of swag from Versus and the Columbus Blue Jackets for attendees, and it should be a great game at a pretty decent place. Another point I wanted to make was that Buffalo Wild Wings allows all ages to come to the event. The only reason you’d need to be over 21 at this event is if you plan on drinking. There is a food special: 50 cent boneless wings. We’ll have game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, and it should be a great time! Here’s the details one last time!

NHLTweetup Cincinnati!
What is it? A meetup for those who use Twitter and watch hockey, but anyone is welcome to join in the fun! We’ll have the Carolina Hurricanes vs. Pittsburgh Penguins game on TV.
When is it? Thursday May 21, 2009 7-11pm (tomorrow night!)
Who should come? Anyone and everyone who uses Twitter, but it’s helpful if you like hockey. If you don’t use Twitter, I can definitely convince you why you should.
Where is this taking place? Buffalo Wild Wings at Harper’s Station (11363 Montgomery Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45241) Easy access from I-71, if you want to make the drive from Columbus.

Cincinnati Tweetup Date Change

Yesterday we all saw two great game 7 matchups. Congrats to the Hurricanes and Red Wings!

This brings me to the point of my blog entry. This morning, the NHL released the schedule for Round 3, and there was no game on May 20, which would mean a certain NHL Tweetup would have no game to watch. In conclusion, we will be having the Tweetup on May 21, when we will get to game 2 of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes series will take place. So below is the updated info

Cincinnati “Tweet-update”

Before I give you the update, I have a small aside. I didn’t watch the Pens/Caps in Game 7. But before you say “Shame on You”, I did get a chance to go to the Cincinnati Cyclones/South Carolina Stingrays Game 3 matchup here in Cincinnati with @BethanyM85. If you’re a Caps fan, you shouldn’t be too sad, because the Stingrays are their ECHL affiliate!

Now on to the “Tweet-update”. Versus, as well as the Columbus Blue Jackets, have both graciously donated some swag for tweeps coming to the Tweetup! The catch is you have to be the one of the first 15 people to RSVP to get your hands on it! Also here’s the details again:

Round 3 NHL Tweetup in Cincinnati!

The city of Cincinnati, OH and the game of ice hockey are two things that are rarely said in the same breath. Although it isn’t an NHL town, the city of Cincinnati has a very under-appreciated and storied past in minor league hockey. Here are a few of the highlights:

-The Cincinnati Swords won the AHL’s Calder Cup for the 1973-74 season. They were led statistically that season by Bill Inglis who coached the Buffalo Sabres for the 1978-79 season. Also on that team was another former NHL coach, Rick Dudley. He coached the Buffalo Sabres for 3 seasons from 1989-1992. Dudley also coached the Florida Panthers for 30 games in the 2003-04 season.

-The Cincinnati Stingers housed the early careers of Mark Messier and Barry Melrose in the WHA of the late 1970s.

-The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks housed the early careers of many current stars in the NHL including: Sean Avery, J-S Giguerre, Cory Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, and Matt Cullen. Not to mention Stanley Cup winning coach Mike Babcock was the bench boss for 2 seasons.

-The Cincinnati Cyclones won the Kelly Cup for the 2007-08 season, and could win it again this year.

EVENT DETAILS: The first NHL tweetup in Cincinnati will take place on May 20 (non-Cincinnatians are welcome too!). It will take place at the Buffalo Wild Wings at Harper’s Station (11363 Montgomery Rd Cincinnati, OH 45249) from 7-11pm. Come and enjoy some Round 3 Stanley Cup Action!
