Only this time around, we are going to do things a little different. Since I am going to assume a good majority of our “regulars” have tickets to the Pens/Caps game on Thursday night, I thought we would do something a little out of the ordinary and hold the NHLtweetup the night before.

And I know you are thinking, “But Ryan, I checked the NHL schedule. There are only 3 games that night. Isn’t this just ‘drinking in a bar’?” Well, yes and no. Did I forget to mention our “special guest“!?

Southern girl/Caps fan Emily (aka @vulcansmuse) has made Pittsburgh one of the stops in her #EpicHockeyRoadtrip. So here is your chance to come out and actually meet her (and possibly some other Caps fans) and see if she can explain why Captain Caveman isn’t a dirty player and why he can’t fight his own fights. LOL  But be prepared to defend Sid The Kid from the Olympic Diving Team accusations.  [all in good fun, remember]

Sounds like a good reason for a Pens Stanley Cup DVD Watching party or even just to get together.

Location is TBA at the moment as I am looking for feedback on where to have it. A couple of suggestions were Mario’s in the Southside or possibly even Hofbrauhaus in South Side Works. (no DVD there, just lots of beer)

Hey there Pens Fans, So we finally know the details for Round 2. Pens vs Capitols. Here is the schedule: Saturday, May 2, at Washington, 1 p.m., NBC Monday, May 4, at Washington, 7 p.m., Versus Wednesday, May 6, PITTSBURGH, 7 p.m., Versus Friday, May 8, PITTSBURGH, 7 p.m., FSN Pittsburgh *Saturday, May 9, at Washington, 7 p.m., FSN Pittsburgh *Monday, May 11, PITTSBURGH, TBD, FSN Pittsburgh *Wednesday, May 13, at Washington, 7 p.m., FSN Pittsburgh From the feedback Jen and I have been receiving, a lot more people would be able to make a weekend tweetup instead of one during the week. That said, we basically have 2 options:

Game 1 - This Saturday, at 1pm on NBC. This doesn’t really work out so well for a whole lot of reasons, least of all, the game is on NBC so that means, no Big Screen. Again.

Game 5 -Next Saturday, 5/9 at 7pm on Versus. (A little bad karma going into planning a watching party on the premise that your team is going to lose a game, but it is what it is)

So taking all of that into consideration, Jen and I have made the  decision to have NHLTweetUp – Pittsburgh, Round 2 during Game 5. So here are the details:

And what would a round of Penguins playoff hockey be without an NHLTweetUp?!

So here’s is the plan – obviously at this point we don’t know who or when we will be playing. That said, I would like to tentatively plan our tweetup for next weekend, May 2nd or 3rd. We are going to try to accommodate our out-of-town tweeps, many of who messaged me asking for a weekend date so that they could come.

We are also going to contact the Pens to see if they would be interested in sponsoring us again. If so, great! If not, we are going to do it anyway!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who helped make the first ever NHLTweetUp – Pittsburgh a huge sucess.

Obviously, thank yous to everyone who came out to Friday’s last night. It was great to finally meet a lot of Twitter friends and to have a conversation lasting more than 140 characters at a time. And almost every person there last night made it a point to come by and thank us for putting it together and asked when are we doing it again.
Jen and I appreciate that.

Thank you to those of you who wanted to come but wound up getting tickets and going to the game instead. We were jealous of you but disappointed you couldn’t come at the same time.

Thank you to everyone who intended on coming but couldn’t make it. Just the fact that you wanted to come encourages us to do this again.
